Former Super Eagles manager, Monday Sinclair, has passed away .
His death was disclosed in a Facebook post shared by former Nigeria goalkeeper, Peterside Idah.
He reportedly died on Wednesday around 3:15pm at the age of 88, after battling with diabetes.
Announcing his demise on his verified social media handle, Idah wrote, “Our daddy is gone. What a man. He signed me to play for Sharks. Gave me my first match against Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
“The first day he saw me come to train with Sharks, he said, ‘My friend, are you a boxer?’ He said I was built like Tyson. From that day I found myself a football father. I became very close to him and his family, with Puppa K as a very close brother.”
Sinclair coached several top-tier Nigerian clubs, including Sharks FC, Rangers International, Heartland, Bayelsa United, Udoji United, and Niger Tornadoes, among others. He also managed the Nzalang Nacional, the national team of Equatorial Guinea.
He was also appointed coach of the Eagles by the Nigerian football governing body on an interim basis after French tactician, Philippe Troussier was sacked in 1997.
He later took charge of two friendly matches against Zambia and Tunisia.
Sinclair was instrumental in the discovery of ex-Nigeria internationals such as Peter Rufai, Taribo West, Finidi George, and Idah Peterside.
